Obaseki Increases Minimum Wage To ₦‎70,000 From ₦‎40,000 In Edo

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has increased the minimum wage for workers in the
State from N40,000 to 70,000. The governor made the announcement, Monday at the commissioning of the newly built ultra- modern Labour House (secretariat complex) for labour unions in Benin City Edo State.

According to him, the new minimum wage regime will come into effect as from May 1, 2024,
during this year’s Workers’ Day. This is the second time that Governor Obaseki has increased minimum wage in the state. The first time was about 2021 when he raised the wage from N30,000 to N40,000.
